No to Shalom, Yes to Peace

How is this for rethinking the Israeli conflict against the Palestinians:

"Within the Zionist discourse, it is the left who are leading towards a hard-core national and racist state. The hawks, on the other hand, push forwards towards a multi-national reality of 'one state',"

Ripped out of its context, it no doubt has your head spinning but think about it: The settlers are living amongst the Palestinians. Viewed over the long haul, this translates to the inevitability of the Israelis and the Palestinians living together as neighbours.

Now, if that doesn't rope you in I don't know what will. Gilad Atzmon does more than that, however, in this essay focusing on the distinction between shalom and peace. Did you know shalom does not mean peace?
