Iran Offered U.S. Peace with Israel. U.S. Ignored It.
Read the article yourself but here are some highlights interspersed with some thoughts of my own.
Go back in time to just after the U.S. attack on Iraq:
It is late April or early May of 2003 when Iran sends a peace proposal to the United States. The US has already begun its war of aggression. There are still expectations of finding WMD, Baathist links to Al Qaeda not to mention being greeted with flowers by the Iraqi’s. Creating a civil war in Iraq and enflaming sectarian violence is at this stage inconceivable. On May 1, 2003 War Crimes President Bush delivers a speech aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln while a “Mission Accomplished” banner acts as his backdrop. At this very early point in the US invasion, all is presumably going according to plan (and what a brutal, destructive, life killing plan it was!). Regime change in Iraq is imminent. There will be oil contracts for the fat cats as well as construction contracts to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure it took billions of dollars to destroy. It is at this point in time that the US clearly regards Iran as “next” (e.g., Playing With Fire: the U.S., Iraq, Iran). It is no doubt also at this point that Iran is as unsure of the outcome in Iraq as the US is sure of it.
